VOORHEESVILLE — Having raised close to a quarter-million dollars, the Voorheesville Playground committee is now looking to the community to raise a playground at Voorheesville Elementary School.

Build dates are tentatively set for Friday through Sunday, May 11 to 13, pending approval of plans by the State Education Department.

Volunteers, ages 18 and up, are needed to help construct the playground, and also to assist with tools and equipment management, the food tent, and the check-in tent. There’s an online sign-up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b49adae2fabf85-community.

Free child care will be provided to volunteers’ children who are at least 3 and out of diapers on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children are not allowed on the construction site.

Food and water will be provided for volunteers. Also, volunteers are required to sign a waiver when they arrive.

Overflow parking will be at St. Matthew’s Church; all cars must be be moved from that parking lot by 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.
