VOORHEESVILLE — Kevin Patrick Kavanaugh was an Air Force veteran and electrician who loved his family and the outdoors. He died on Monday, March 21, 2022, unexpectedly during the night in his Voorheesville home. He was 67.

He was born to the late Thomas and Kathleen Kavanaugh on July 26, 1954.

After graduating from Clayton A. Bouton High School, he served in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1977. 

Upon his return, he became an electrician and joined the local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) 236 union where he worked for many years in Albany and other states. In the late 1990s, he was hired with Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and worked there until his retirement in 2016.

“Kevin loved many things,” his family wrote in a tribute, “some of which included hunting, being outdoors, completing projects on the log cabin that he built, and providing for and spending quality time with his family and friends.”

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Anna (née Demarest) Kavanaugh; by his children, Kimberly Kavanaugh and Kevin Kavanaugh, as well as by his stepchildren whom he treated like his own, Justin Therrien and his wife, Mindy, Matthew Therrien, Amanda Therrien, and April Therrien; and by his grandchildren, Brianna, Colton, Mason, Laney, and Sawyer.

He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Kavanaugh, Michael Kavanaugh and his wife, Mary, Patrick Kavanaugh and his wife, Sarah, and William Kavanaugh and his wife, Michelle, and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will be holding its own private service.
