Sassi to lead a virtual tour of old Dutch houses
To the Editor:
Celebrate our local Dutch heritage by learning more about the architecture and distinctive framing techniques brought here from the Netherlands in the 17th Century. Characteristic features found in both rural and urban settings as well as interior and exterior views will be showcased.
Early Dutch architectural features abound in our area and are easily spotted when one learns how to identify them. Historian Marilyn Sassi will guide a virtual tour of the most significant Dutch houses in the Hudson and Mohawk valleys.
This interesting and informational program will be presented on Tuesday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem on Old New Salem Road. Admission is always free. Also, the New Scotland Historical Association Museum will be open one half hour before the program.
