To the Editor:

Kiwanis Club of the Helderbergs is holding its annual Maple Festival pancake brunch at the Knox firehouse on Sunday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Four local maple producers will be open for self-guided driving tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.:  Malachi and Lounsbury farms in Knox and Mountain Winds and Bittersweet Maple farms in Berne. Free tour guides and maps will be available at the Knox firehouse.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Kiwanis. It helps provide Easter and Thanksgiving meals for 24 Hilltown families; back-to-school backpacks with supplies and sneakers, and weekend food-supplement backpacks for Berne-Knox-Westerlo students; sponsorship for a Little League team each year; support for Boy Scout and Girl Scout projects, and scholarships for BKW graduates

A Kiwanis BKW Student Support Fund helps students in need cover expenses related to miscellaneous school activities and field trips. Kiwanis also supports anti-bullying programs, youth leadership training programs, a calculator loan program, Coats For Kids, the Hilltowns Food Pantry, the annual Memorial Day parades in Berne and Knox, and roadside flower gardens.

Please join us for pancake brunch with real maple syrup, and help contribute to the community in these efforts.

The club meets at 6 p.m. every Wednesday except the first week of each month at Township Tavern in Knox. New members are always welcome!
