To the Editor:

We hope everyone in the village and beyond will save May 17 for our Altamont Memorial Day Parade at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Because this is a purely volunteer grassroots effort to recapture the decades-long tradition of the parade in Altamont, it is more important than ever that families line village streets and support it!

Homemade floats and homegrown marchers will join our local vets as we, as a community, honor our fallen heroes in Orsini Park after the parade. Hopefully our houses will fly our American flag, celebrating the freedoms we enjoy because of our heroes’ sacrifice.

So save the date — more details to come.
