Errors on school building’s exterior should be rectified

To the Editor:
Kudos to the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District Board of Education and employees on the completion of the district’s $19.8 million capital project about a week ahead of schedule as reported in the March 4, 2021 edition of The Altamont Enterprise.

That is the good news! It is also good news that The Enterprise properly hyphenated  the name of our school district in its article.

The bad news is that the contractors failed to hyphenate our school’s legal name which is emblazoned  over the secondary school entrance. Months ago, when I first noticed this, I notified our district’s leadership in the belief that the error would be corrected. It was not.

I understand  that these are demanding times and our leadership has been consumed by many pressing and complicated issues. Possibly this matter just fell through the cracks.

However, Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District is an institution of learning tasked with providing a good education. Surely, it is reasonable to expect that errors on a school building’s exterior will be rectified thereby turning bad news into good news!
