Conservation district holds tree and fish sales

The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District is gearing up to assist homeowners, farmers, and municipalities with a tree sale and a fish sale.

The Tree and Shrub Seedling Sale offers a wide variety of plants and supplies at reasonable prices.  Many species are ideal for erosion control, windscreens, shade, wildlife food and cover as well as backyard homesteading.

District staff members can also offer advice and maps on soil types, which can help determine what to plant, when to plant, and where. They are offering apples, blueberries, pears, raspberries, hybrid poplar among other species.

Plants should be ordered by April 11 to ensure species availability.  Any overstock items will be sold at the time of pickup on a first come, first served basis.

The Fish Sale and Stocking Program offers rainbow trout, largemouth bass, channel catfish, triploid grass carp, and forage fish, which are available to purchase at low cost.

Orders are being accepted through May 5 and will be available for pickup on May 10 at the district parking lot.
