KNOX — Lewis S. Ferrara, a chef who loved the outdoors, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022. He was 73.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on Feb. 24, 1948 to the late Philip and Anne (née Tartaglia) Ferrara.

“Lewis’s passion in life was cooking a delicious meal,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was a chef for many years, working at Friar Tuck Inn and the Real Seafood Restaurant.

“Lewis loved the outdoors no matter the weather. He loved hiking and archery. At home, you usually found him outside working on an old car.”

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jane; by his daughter, Ciarra; and by his former foster children, Robert, Daniel, and Gabby.

He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Fogliano and her husband, Vincent, and Lauren Farrara-Dupuis and her husband, Henry; by his cousin, Lisa Carieri; and by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and an enormous number of friends. Dozer was his faithful companion.

His family thanks the Johnson and Sherman families for “their abounding love and support.”

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in the spring.

    ALTAMONT — “After an extended battle with various undiagnosed ailments, ‘The Man with Nine Lives’ went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025,” the family of Louis John Meagley Sr. wrote in a tribute. He was 87.
