A courteous and pleasant old gentleman

To the Editor:

Being a local history buff, I always read the “Back in Time” column, as well as the full-length stories about the area. Last week, I noticed in the column (February 27), the story about the boy Marshall Crounse, who got lost trying to ski from Albany to Altamont.

I wondered at the time whether this was the same Mr. Marshall Crounse who used to  live in a little house on Brandle Road outside the village, near the little cemetery and the old barn. We lived at the village end of Brandle at the time, and for several years I stopped to see him when I was collecting for March of Dimes. A courteous and pleasant old gentleman.
