Costco will make Guilderland even more prosperous
To the Editor:
There are many reasons to support the project being considered near Crossgates. The first and most important is the fact that it will bring a Costco to our region. This is a store which is needed in this area and one which will draw in shoppers — and even more economic prosperity — to Guilderland.
What better place to make these investments than directly next to Crossgates? We have a great shopping asset in our town and it makes sense to attract new construction in the same area.
We live close to the mall and see this as a win-win situation. The proposed Costco and apartments will bring more residents and people to our town who will live or shop in Guilderland and support our local economy.
In addition, this project will create a large amount of revenue to the town and school district in the form of property and sales-tax revenue. With young children in Guilderland schools, we see this as a substantial boost to their education and an opportunity to ease the burden on current taxpayers.
This is the most reasonable place to build a Costco, with little impact on the town, and at a great benefit to our residents and taxpayers.
