Autumn T. Tambasco, a strong and free spirited woman and a devoted mother, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, after a long illness. She was 46.

She was born Oct. 31, 1978 in Albany to Walter A. and Thomasina Tambasco.

“Autumn was an exceptional woman, strong and free-spirited,” her family wrote in a tribute.

“She and her partner, Jacob VanZutphen, own Dogs of Greenville where she had many loyal clients. She worked in the dog-grooming business for over 20 years and loved all the dogs.”

She graduated from Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville, Hudson Valley Community College, and the University at Albany.

“She was the devoted mother of two amazing children, Noah, 13, and Max, 10, who love her so much,” her family wrote. “She was always there for school activities and special fun times. They were the center of her life. Mommy was the ‘Best Mom Ever.’

“Jacob, her partner of 29 years, is the love of her life and their love is felt by all who know them. Autumn is a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, and friend, to name only a few. She loved family get-togethers, planning theme parties, and traveling to concerts, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.

“All who knew Autumn will miss her deeply and be grateful for the time and memories we had with her.”

Autumn T. Tambasco is survived by her loved partner, Jacob D. VanZutphen; her wonderful sons, Noah Jacob and Max Abram VanZutphen; her mother, Thomasina “Tina” Moran Tambasco of Voorheesville; her siblings, Jennifer (Jim) Smith of Voorheesville, Beth (Andy) Ruiz of Delmar, Walter A. (Kassi) Tambasco Jr. of Altamont; and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Her father, Walter A. Tambasco, died before her. 

“Warm appreciation to friend Erin Nickel whose knowledge, care, and love made the journey less stressful,” the tribute said. “We honor Autumn’s wishes for a summer celebration of a life well lived.”
