NEW SALEM — SOUTH END.

The passing away of Mrs. William Weidman, who was for many years resident of this community, removes another familiar face from our midst. Mrs. Weidman’s maiden name was Jane Griswold. In her early life she married William Weidman, who died several years ago. For a number of years she made her home with her son Frank, but for the past year had been with her daughter in Schenectady, where after a lingering illness the end came. Mrs. Weidman was in her 80th year. The call came on Wednesday night, Feb. 21, at 9 o’clock. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, six sons, twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a large circle of friends. To these she had endeared herself with her kind and loving disposition, her ever ready sympathy to those in distress and her words of cheer to the down-hearted. To know her was but to love her.

THE COMMUNITY SING

Will Be Given in the Reformed Church Tuesday Evening, March 6 — Reserved Seats on Sale at Enterprise Office.

Next Tuesday evening, March 6, is the date for the Community Sing. The concert will be held in the Reformed church and will begin at 8 o’clock. At this time a chorus of fifty voices will be heard in a program of old-time songs and ballads. The music will be patriotic throughout. Many of the songs popular during the wars of this nation are to be rendered. Included in the vocal number will be solos, duets, quartets and choruses.

No one should miss it. It is the first time such an entertainment has been given in this vicinity, and its success is assured. All plans have been carefully made and rehearsals held for several weeks under the direction of Mrs. Frank Saddlemire.

WOLF HILL.

Mrs. David L. Sullivan is spending several days at the home of her son John. Only a few days ago the latter’s wife was buried, being just in the stage of life when the mother’s care was needed so much in the home to guide the footsteps of a little daughter, who is left, besides a number of other relatives and friends, to mourn her early departure. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
