Kathleen Brunt

VOORHEESVILLE — Kathleen (née Murtagh) Brunt, an artistic woman whose family was the love of her life, died in her Voorheesville home after fighting a valiant battle with cancer. She was 62.

“She was artistic in nature,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She took great pleasure in making crafts, wreaths, pumpkins, and designs in beach sand, bringing joy to all those she shared them with.

“Kathleen loved Cape Cod. First as a child at Mattapoisett, Massachusetts and then later camping in the dunes in Provincetown and finally spending many weeks in Truro in a cozy cottage — she cherished all those special times with her family as they were the love of her life.

“Kathleen was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening.” The tribute concluded, “We will all forever miss Kathleen’s warm smile.”

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; by her son, Scott, and his wife, Sarah; by her granddaughters, Josephine and Juliette; by her brothers, Thomas and John Jr.; by her father, John Sr.; and by 11 nieces and nephews.

Her mother, Anna May, died before her, as did her sister, Mary Elizabeth.

In honor of her wishes, there will be no services. The family will celebrate her life in June on Cape Cod where her ashes will be scattered.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Upstate New York, 588 Queensbury Ave, Queensbury, NY 12804 “where we adopted our dog, Tennessee, who brings happiness to everyone she meets,” the tribute said.
