Boooooorah, Trump!

To the Editor:

I’m a former Altamont resident and now very infrequent reader of what used to be my hometown newspaper.

You  may  remember  me  as  the  lady  who  was  dead set  against  trans  bathroom “rights.” I am so proud to have a president who has the good and common sense to give the final decree on the issue and will no longer, as of Feb. 18, consider the issue as an issue at all.

Boooooorah, Trump!

All your liberal readers can caterwaul all they want.

Our little girls and women can rest assured they can use the restroom in comfort and privacy free from the fear that any old  person — a  man  dressed  in  women’s  clothes,  for  instance,  who  “feels”  like  a  woman  today,  is  gender confused,  gender  fluid,  or  whatever  other  nonsense  they  spew —  has  no  right  to  be  there  and  the  law  will treat them  accordingly.

Insult all you want, use your dime-store psychology to shame label me, but right triumphs again!

Jackie  Hallock

Lecanto, Florida

Editor’s note: Ms. Hallock is referring to the decision by the federal Department of Education to no longer investigate civil rights complaints from transgender students regarding bathroom access. We had written editorials approving of the Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo schools providing single-use bathrooms for students of any gender.

On Wednesday, New York’s education commissioner and attorney general sent a letter to school districts across the state saying that — irrespective of the federal government’s decision — they have independent duties under federal and state law to protect transgender students from discrimination and harassment in their schools.
