Buy a banner to honor a hero from Knox

Hometown Hero: Dennis Cyr, left, and Dennis Barber, right, display a banner showing Ed Ackroyd as a teenager serving in Vietnam.

To the Editor:

The Knox Hometown Heroes Banner Program has now arrived in town. This program is a way for Knox residents, past and present, to honor a veteran, living or deceased.

A family member, resident, business, or organization would purchase a 30-by-60 inch, two-sided vinyl banner at a cost of approximately $135. These banners would be hung from utility poles along Route 156 through the village of Knox.

These banners will hang from Memorial Day through Veterans Day after which we will hold a ceremony. At this ceremony, we will present the banners to the honored veterans. For more information and to purchase a banner, please visit the town of Knox website. Thank you.
