Pyramid’s plans are good for Guilderland

To the Editor:

As a Guilderland resident with two school-aged children, I am excited for the proposed development on the Crossgates property [“Pyramid’s plans for future growth revealed,” The Altamont Enterprise, Feb. 12, 2020]. Bringing a much-desired national brand like Costco to the region will be a great addition to the market and I am looking forward to having it in our neighborhood.

These proposed projects will create a large number of jobs, both in the construction phase and long-term. This will also add to this already important shopping destination with little impact on our town’s infrastructure.

In my mind, one of the most important aspects is the impact this development would have on our property tax revenue and our school district. With this development on currently vacant or underutilized land, the Guilderland School District would receive more than $425,000 in new taxes from the property owners. This will be a real shot in the arm for our school district and provide more and better opportunities for our children.

This project makes sense for our area. It is well thought out and will have positive impacts for Guilderland.
