Attack on Van Wormer Drive was “targeted”

GUILDERLAND — At 3:18 p.m. on Feb. 18, a resident of 10 Van Wormer Drive was bludgeoned in his home, in what police are now calling a “targeted attack,” the result of “a business transaction.”

Two men forced their way into the Trestick home and tried to rob 23-year-old Kyle Trestick, according to a release issued by the Guilderland Police. Mr. Trestick, and his wife, Katelyn, fought back, and the suspects, whose identities are still unknown, left in a sports utility vehicle, either a silver Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee, said Curtis Cox, captain of the Guilderland Police Department.

Trestick told police that some cash was taken during the attack, a statement police said they are trying to verify.

Trestick was struck on the head by a weapon, causing lacerations, the report said. He was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, where he was treated and released; his wife was not injured, police said.

Cox sent out a second press release to let residents know that this robbery was not a random act.  

“We certainly wanted to let people know that this was a targeted attack, and residents have no reason to feel unsafe in their homes,” Cox told The Enterprise. The investigators are continuing the search, said Cox, and have reason to believe that some arrests will be made soon.
