We need your help for Hilltown food drive

To the Editor:

The Helderberg Family and Community Organization is sponsoring a food drive to benefit: Hugs for the Hilltowns (Helderberg Lutheran Church); Rock Road Chapel Easter Outreach Program (Knox); and Hilltowns Community Resource Center (Westerlo). The food drive is also being supported with a generous grant from Thrivent Financial.

We need your help! From now through March 13, donations may be dropped off during normal business hours at the following locations: 

— Fox Creek Market, 1634 Helderberg Trail, Berne;

— Helderberg True Value, 856 Helderberg Trail East Berne;

— Altamont Country Values-Agway, 106 Prospect Street, Altamont; or

— P and L Deli, 599 NY 143, Westerlo.

On March 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, donations may be brought to the following locations: 

— Knox Reformed Church, 2175 Berne-Altamont Road, Knox;

— Berne Fire Department, 30 Canaday Hill Road, Berne;or

— Westerlo Fire Department, 592 NY 143, Westerlo.

Suggested donation items include: personal-care products (toothpaste, shampoo, soap), soup, oatmeal, mac and cheese, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, any non-perishable food item or personal-care product, applesauce, au gratin or scalloped potatoes, small canned hams, medium to large hams, Easter candies, bread mixes.

Monetary donations are also appreciated. Checks may be made out to HFCO; please put “food drive” on the memo line. All donations will be used in their entirety to support the food pantries. Mail to: HFCO, PO Box 115 Knox, NY 12107
