Guilderland man charged with sex crimes against children
GUILDERLAND — Arrests in December and again in January led to a Feb. 21 arrest of a Guilderland man for three felonies: two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, four counts of first-degree rape, and four counts of first degree sexual abuse.
Louis Maniscalco, 40, was charged by State Police based in Latham after they received tips following two previous cases for similar charges out of the town of Guilderland, according to a release from the State Police.
The newest charges “stem from an investigation after determining he had sexual contact with multiple children in the City of Albany,” the release said, noting that Maniscalco is still being held on cash bail at Albany County’s jail and will be arraigned in the City of Albany Criminal Court in the future.
State Police ask that any further leads related to Maniscalco be emailed to Investigator Michael Altieri at or by calling 518-783-3211.
On Dec. 20, troopers were contacted by someone who said they believed Maniscalco had inappropriate contact with a child under the age of 11, the release said, adding, “The investigation determined Maniscalco attempted multiple times to solicit a child under the age of eleven for the purpose of sexual exploitation.”
Then, on Jan. 12, he was arrested on a warrent for predatory sexual assault against a child, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first-deree criminal sexual act and first degree criminal sexual act.
The continued investigation had identified additional victims under the age of 12, the release said. Maniscalco was processed at the county jail and arraigned at the Guilderland Town Court. He was returned to the jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
