Albany Water Board honored at MHLC dinner

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy welcomes the public at its Annual Awards Dinner at the River Stone Manor in Schenectady on Feb. 23.

William Bryant Logan, arborist and author of “Sprout Lands, Oak, Air and Dirt,” will speak.

This year, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy’s Saving Special Places Award will be presented to Commissioner of the Albany Department of Water and Water Supply Joseph E. Coffey Jr., Albany Water Board Chair Charles G. Houghton III, and Watershed Manager of the Albany Department of Water and Water Supply Amy Walsh.

They were selected for their leadership and dedicated efforts to permanently preserve the forest lands of the Albany Water Board.

The Dan Driscoll Leadership Award will be presented to MHLC volunteers George Bailie and Peter Richards. Both Bailey and Richards serve as preserve stewards for the conservancy and have volunteered at stewardship workdays to maintain and improve MHLC’s trail systems.

The event starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
