GPD: Two Jersey City men attempting to scam a senior charged with felonies

GUILDERLAND — An elderly Guilderland resident who was about to be scammed alerted police who, by working undercover, ended up charging two New Jersey men for attempted grand larceny, a felony.

A release from the Guilderland Police said events unfolded this way:

An undercover officer, on Valentine’s Day, delivered a package reported to contain $31,000 to the agreed location of the Hannaford supermarket at 5239 Western Ave.

“While communicating with the suspects via phone, the undercover officer presented the package for delivery to the suspect,” the release said. “Once delivered, one suspect was taken into custody. 

“A second suspect who was previously dropped off in the parking lot, fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later by members of the Guilderland Police Department.”

 Nicholas T. Bialobzreski, 21, of Jersey City, New Jersey and Max Baraiya, 21, also of Jersey City, were each charged with third-degree attempted grand larceny. They were arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and were released under the supervision of probation.
