Wanted: Justice for Lisa Sperry

To the Editor:
In the Hilltowns of Westerlo, two counts of aggravated vehicular manslaughter, one count of second-degree manslaughter, and two counts of vehicular assault were the charges in May 2021.

On Oc. 29, 2021, we were informed that this was not a violent crime but we have a strong case against Andrew Gibson.

The Albany County District Attorney and Andrew Gibson’s attorney came to a conclusion to offer a plea deal of eight-and one-third to 25 years with possibility of parole, aggravated vehicular homicide for the death of Lisa Sperry and bodily injury to two of her sons.

Andrew Gibson was intoxicated, speeding excessively, and failed to keep right, when he shattered her body and life.

On Nov. 24, Andrew Gibson walked into the Albany County courthouse and pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated vehicular homicide and then walked out, with a date for sentencing, and assigned probation.

Feb. 1, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. was the date of sentencing for Andrew Gibson. Andrew Gibson never showed up.

A bench warrant was then issued.

Another court date will be assigned to Andrew Gibson when we find him, says Assistant District Attorney Mary Tanner Richter.

We, the family of Lisa Sperry, are still waiting for justice, so we can heal.

A man caught red-handed, without a doubt of the horrific crime he commited, should have gotten no right to defend himself or the opportunity to run.

This is the opinion of the Ingleston family.

This is our justice system.
