Awards and achievements, Feb. 16, 2017

These local athletes have recently distinguished themselves at their college or university:

— Matt Schiller of Guilderland, on Colby-Sawyer’s men’s soccer team, has been named to the North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team, which recognizes student-athletes on varsity sports teams who have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Student-athletes must also have reached sophomore academic standing and competed in a minimum of two years of varsity competition at their institution;

These local students have been named to the dean’s list or received a similar honor from their college or university for the fall 2016 semester:

— Jordan C. Vanina of Guilderland, majoring in criminal justice at Western New England college in Massachusetts where he/she is on the president’s list;

— Allie K. McMillen of Voorheesville, majoring in pre-pharmacy  at Western New England college in Massachusetts where he/she is on the president’s list;

— Skylar L. Mead, a senior music and history major at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, a graduate of Guilderland High School, she is the daughter of Matthew Mead and Leith Ramsey of Schenectady;

— Cole Leforestier, of Delmar at Becker College where he is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in interactive media design;

— Madeline Jane Phillips of Schenectady, at the University of Alabama;

— Rachel Garba of Delmar at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh;

— Nicholas Crocetta working toward a doctor of pharmacy degree at Western New England University in Massachusetts

— Luke Nagle of Schenectady at the University of Wisconsin-Madison;

— Julianna Martin of Altamont, at Bethany College in West Virginia;

— Ari Miller, a sophomore at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Massachusetts. Miller, 17, of Slingerlands, attended Bethlehem Central High School before leaving to enter college early after 10th grade;

— Francesca DiGiorgio from Slingerlands, on the president’s list at The State University of New York College at Geneseo with an A in all coursework;

Clarkson University honors

These local students have been named Presidential Scholars for the fall 2016 semester at Clarkson University, each with a grade-point average of at least 3.80:

— Bradley Kenneth Bettinger of Delmar, a sophomore majoring in engineering and management;

— Devin Gregory Freeman of Voorheesville, a sophomore majoring in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering;

— Spencer Kranz of Slingerlands, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering; and

— Owen Everett Talmage of Delmar, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering.

Dean’s list

These local students have been named to the Clarkson Dean’s List, each with a grade-point average of at least 3.25:

— Daphne Ann Freeman of Voorheesville, a sophomore majoring in environmental engineering;

— David Thurlen Lasselle of East Berne, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering;

— Alexander D Macri of Altamont, a senior majoring in computer science and digital arts and sciences; and

— Matt Reluzco of Schenectady, a senior majoring in civil engineering and environmental engineering.
