No enforcement possible, no benefit to the town

To the Editor:

In July 2022, two dirt bikes and a four-wheeler went through a stop sign on Beaverdam Road.

They were unregistered, uninsured, driven by underage, unlicensed kids, turned loose by uncaring parents driving on town roads.

Two made it; the third hit our car. He got a broken leg and a wrecked dirt bike.

All three were lucky to be alive.

Fortunately, we were uninjured. Our car was repaired for $19,800. The cost to our insurance company had to be $30,000. To us: $20,000.

That’s what the town of Berne is proposing be turned loose on our town roads. I know they are proposing rules. Hogwash!

There will be no reasonable enforcement possible or expected. There will also be no benefit to the town.
