Thanks, Broden, for spreading village message that parks should be smoke-free

To the Editor:

I am writing to commend Altamont Elementary School student Broden Higgins for his letter in the Feb. 9 Enterprise, expressing his strong opposition to smoking in public parks.

I understand Master Higgins was in part inspired by the recent signage in Altamont’s Parks as smoke-free zones, and I want to thank him for carrying our message broadly about the dangers of smoking to people and animals.

The Altamont Board of Trustees and I applaud his actions and encourage everyone to pay attention to his important educational message.  We admire him for taking this strong public position and for his well-written letter.

We look forward to many good things from Broden.
