Kwame tells stories through art
Marcus Kwame works to bridge the gap between history and contemporary art and has a passion for storytelling through visual arts.
He is teaching a second series of workshops, “Drawn to Art,” at the Underground Railroad Education Center, which is located in the restored 19th-Century home of abolitionists Stephen and Harriet Myers at 194 Livingston Ave. in Albany.
“‘Drawn to Art’ is a unique and interactive art workshop that aims to engage participants in a creative exploration of history, culture, and personal expression,” says an announcement for the workshop. It also says Kwame’s work aligns perfectly with the center’s mission to educate and inspire through the exploration of historical narratives.
The workshop is open to people age 15 and older of any skill level. The classes will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, March 15, and April 19.
Costs for the workshop are $20 per student for one class or $50 per student for three classes if paid by the first class. Space is limited. Reserve a space online at the center’s website or call 518-621-7793.
