To the Editor:

I am so grateful for Elizabeth Floyd Mair’s comments [“A farmer and his friend write a rural family history,” Jan. 21, 2016] about my contributions to the Altamont community over the years, but I believe she overstated my role in the Antique Farm Machinery Building at the Altamont Fair.

I am only one of the many volunteers (and good friends) who work tirelessly for many weeks before and after the fair to make the machinery run. My main contribution these days is to help by talking about the old days and helping people understand the uses of some of the old equipment.

I’m honored that they let me be part of the Altamont Fair.
