Village of Altamont
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village Board of the Village of Altamont will hold a public hearing on February 4, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Altamont Village Community Room, 115 Main Street, Altamont, New York, to hear all interested person on proposed Local Law No. 1 of 2020 entitled “Creation of a Community Choice Aggregation Program”. This local law is intended to explore the ability of residents and owners of property to increase buying power through a group purchase of electricity through a Community Choice Aggregation program (CCA). Benefits of the CCA program may include, saving money on electric bills, avoiding spikes in the price of electricity, combating energy telemarketers and door-to-door sales, and accessing renewable “green” electricity. Passing of the local law does not commit the Village of Altamont to move forward with the CCA, the local law allows the Village to receive pricing on the cost of electricity through the program. Residents who do not wish to participate in the program may choose to opt-out without penalty. More information can be found at megacca.org.
