Free tax prep for low- and middle-income filers

VOORHEESVILLE — AARP Tax-Aide a free, volunteer-run assistance and preparation service, will once again be preparing income tax returns at St. Matthew's Parish Center in Voorheesville beginning in March.

Each year from February through April 15, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers prepare and electronically file federal and state tax returns for low- and middle-income taxpayers, to anyone of any age with special attention to those aged 60 and older. Membership in AARP is not required.

Volunteers, who are trained and certified by the federal Internal Revenue Service, also provide free electronic filing of tax returns including direct deposit of refunds. Appointments are required.

Tax return preparation will begin at St. Matthew's Parish Center starting Friday, March 4, and on three additional Fridays: March 11 March 18, and April 1.
