ShopRite offers free fruit to shopping kids

ALBANY COUNTY — ShopRite, including its supermarkets in Albany, Colonie, and Slingerlands, is now offering a piece of fruit, for free, to kids under 13 as they shop.

A parent or guardian can get a “Kids Club Card” at the store’s courtesy desk, for free. The card is then presented in the produce department for a piece of fruit such as a banana, clementine or apple.

The Kids Club program was introduced in four ShopRite Supermarkets in the Capital Region this past summer, and similar variations of the program are currently available at several dozen stores in ShopRite’s six-state trading area.
