GUILDERLAND — Randall F. Hallenbeck, a Korean War veteran who worked as an accountant, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, surrounded by his loving family in Cumming, Georgia. He was 85.

Born in Guilderland, he graduated from the former Draper High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Empire State College where he graduated with a degree in accounting.

Mr. Hallenbeck worked an auditor for the New York State Thruway Authority, and later the New York State Education Department.

He and his wife were active members of Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hallenbeck enjoyed singing in the church choir, square dancing, gardening, camping, traveling, playing the mandolin, and owning his own tax business.

After his retirement, he and his wife moved to East Berne at Camp Woodstock. They later moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where he was active in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, played in the Gulf Coast Banjo Band, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

Randall F. Hallenbeck is survived by his loving wife, Mary (née Alexander) of 63 years; by his daughter, Sandy Schuster, and her husband, Peter, of Cumming, Georgia; by his grandchildren, Chris Schuster of Lexington, Kentucky and Erin Schuster of Atlanta, Georgia; and by many nieces and nephews.

His son, Randy Hallenbeck, died before him, as did his brother, Wendell Hallenbeck.  

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church at 2291 Western Ave. in Guilderland. Mourners may leave condolences online at www.fischerfuneralcare.com.
