VOORHEESVILLE — Alice Joyce (née Macnab) Lemieux died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, with her family by her side. She was 88.

“The two distinctive qualities that will remain with people who both knew and met Alice for the first time was her positive outlook on life and always greeting you with a smile,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Mrs. Lemieux was born on Oct. 9, 1930 in Verdun, Quebec, Canada, to Duncan and Alice Macnab. She later moved to Voorheesville after marrying George Lemieux. The two were married for 56 years, their union ending only with Mr. Lemieux’s death. They raised two sons in Voorheesville, and Mrs. Lemieux remained there for the rest of her life.

Mrs. Lemieux worked at Albany Medical College, from which she retired as the director of financial aid. After retiring, she and her husband took many trips, her favorite being to Maine.

Mrs. Lemieux loved to take daily walks, never deterred by the weather. She also made daily visits to the Windowbox Café, and was a dedicated member of the New Scotland Presbyterian Church.

In a tribute to Mrs. Lemieux, her family thanked the staff at Eddy Village Green Beverwyck who cared for her “as if she were their own,” stating, “Alice had nothing but wonderful things to say about her care. We will never forget their guidance, expertise, compassion, and kindness.”

Alice Joyce (née Macnab) Lemieux is survived by her brother, Duncan Macnab; her children, George Lemieux and his wife, Rochelle; and Emery Lemieux and his wife, Patty; her grandchildren, Emery Lemieux; Katie Sisson and her husband, Mitchell; Christopher Lemieux and his wife, Yvette; Alysen Forbes and her husband, Erik; and Kortney Lemieux; as well as by five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gabriella, Jase, Aiden, and Keaton.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the New Scotland Presbyterian Church at 2010 New Scotland Road in Slingerlands. A burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery at 200 Duell Rd. in Schuylerville, New York.
