BPD: Scammer bilked Delmar resident of over $22K
BETHLEHEM — A Catskill man who ran a fraud scheme to bilk a Delmar resident out of over $22,000, police say, was arrested on Jan. 16.
Donovan J. May II, 28, was charged with three felonies: third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The Delmar resident was contacted by May, who was “posing as bank fraud personnel and later had multiple unauthorized ATM withdrawals made from their account,” according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.
The Bethlehem department worked with the North Greenbush Police and the United States Probation Office during the investigation.
May was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to Albany County’s jail. The case is scheduled back in court on Feb. 17.
Bethlehem Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been targeted by a similar scam to call the department at 518-439-9973.
