SCHOHARIE COUNTY — Michael Teal Sr. of Richmondville, who was dedicated to his family, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. He was 65.

Born on May 12, 1959, he was a cherished son of the late Clarence and Marie Teal.

“Michael was a devout and loving husband, father, and grandfather, dedicated to his family,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He had a deep love for family. His quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter to everyone who knew him.

“Michael will be remembered for his humor and his love for his family. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew him.”

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gallagher; his children, Michael Teal Jr. (Julie Teal); Ashley Teal (Stephen Sobierajski); and his stepson, Mathew Gallagher.

“Michael took great pride in being a grandfather to Silas and Maggie Sobierajski and Korey, Kolin, and Kolson Teal, who brought immense happiness to his life,” the tribute said.

He is also survived by his brothers, David, Daniel, and Andrew, and by his sisters, Mary and Donna, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

His brothers, Clarence Jr, and Richard Teal, died before him.
