LA fire has consumed more than our town
To the Editor:
As of Friday, Jan. 10, the fires in Los Angeles have destroyed 10,000 structures within 35,000 acres.
There are 640 acres a square mile. That equates to approximately 54 square miles of destruction in Los Angeles.
To put this in perspective, the town of Knox is approximately 42 square miles. The Los Angeles fire has consumed more than our whole town.
The magnitude of that destruction is difficult to conceive.
I’m not a fireman, but how in hell are they supposed to even start to extinguish the inferno, aided by hurricane-type winds?
Yet, there are individuals, throwing nonsense over who is at fault.
Go figure.
