A travesty of justice

To the Editor:

It has come to my attention that our beloved town of Berne dog control officer, Cheryl Baitsholts, was recently fired without cause. This is a travesty of justice and a violation of fair and open principles of government.

A group of people are organizing to have her reinstated. Cheryl has worked tirelessly for our town. She is a dedicated professional with a great love for animals. She always goes above and beyond her required duties and has worked tirelessly to reunite dogs with their owners.

I am asking all supporters and animal lovers to call Berne Town Supervisor Sean Lyons at 518-872-1448, ext. 103 and to come to the next town board meeting on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Berne Community and Senior Center at 1360 Helderberg Trail in Berne to demand that Cheryl be reinstated. There is also a private Facebook page “Reinstate Cheryl Baitsholts as Berne NY DCO” (Dog Control Officer).

This is a non-partisan issue and the community must come together to demand her reinstatement.
