Fistfight with four leads to arrest
ALTAMONT A fistfight Sunday outside of Altamont’s Sunoco on Main Street led to the arrest of Terrence Holohan for two counts of third-degree assault.
“Numerous people called dispatch,” said Altamont’s commissioner of public safety, Anthony Salerno. Police arrived on the scene at 1:31 p.m., he said.
“The fight involved four people,” Salerno said Holohan, and another man and his two teenaged sons, aged 15 and 16.
The fight was due to “an underlying issue between the two individuals,” said Salerno.
Holohan, 52, lives at 200 Sophie Lane in Altamont.
According to witnesses, Holohan threw the first punch, but, rather than landing on the man, the punch landed on one of his teenaged sons, said Salerno.
“He tried to hit the father but actually hit the son,” said Salerno.
Holohan, in the course of the fight, slipped and hit his head on the pavement, Salerno said.
The Altamont Rescue Squad responded and took Holohan to Albany Medical Center, where he was treated and released, Salerno said. The other man in the fight suffered abrasions and contusions, but refused medical treatment, said Salerno.
Holohan did not respond to a call from The Enterprise, seeking comment.
He will be arraigned in Altamont Village Court on Feb. 3, said Salerno.
