To the Editor:

Just a quick note to publicly thank the Guilderland Receiver of Taxes Office for the services it provided relating to early payment of 2018 property taxes.

I received notification of the issue and the process via the town’s news subscription service and found further details at the town website.

When I paid in-person on Dec. 28 at Town Hall, two employees (apologies for not asking your names) were efficiently and enthusiastically answering questions and processing payments. I’ve seen a number of news stories reporting confusion and long lines in other municipalities so it was very refreshing to see how well our town handled this situation.
