High school sports are an arena for learning
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Voorheesville Blackbirds Football program and their families, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the team this year. Time and time again our community has come forward with donations, cheers, kind words, and enthusiasm.
We appreciate every person who came to a game, voted online, wore a team shirt, supported our fundraising, or encouraged the team and coaches.
High school sports are a different arena for learning, and the team learned many lessons this year. They learned that people are usually willing to help you if you first put in hard work yourself.
They learned that good preparation, solid execution, and working together create good results. They learned that life brings both victory and defeat but in both you gather your team around you, work together, and do the best that you can.
When the battle of the day is finished, you leave the field as one united team secure in the knowledge that you gave it your all.
Thank you to the community for being part of the team this year and for helping the boys to achieve great things. You helped to make this truly a season to remember.
Gratefully,
Laura Minnick
