We should help the needy

To the Editor:

Every year at one of the town's parks they should have a fundraiser to donate money, food, toys, blankets, and clothes to people in need of them.

They should do this because it is for charity and a very good cause.  At this donation, we could sell Girl Scout cookies, baked goods, and other items.

We think this would be a good idea because we're helping people and having fun.  We hope this will become a yearly event to help people in need and to improve our community.

Editor’s note: The letter writers are fifth-graders at Berne-Knox-Westerlo and are members of Junior Troop 1056, led by Tami Hanley and Carrie McDermott. They are working on their "Inside Government" badge for which the girls need to write on a topic of interest to them that deals with their community in some way.
