Thrift-shop success due to many people

To the Editor:

I want to thank [Enterprise Hilltown reporter] Marcello Iaia for writing the nice article about the thrift shop that has opened at the Helderberg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne.  We were pleasantly surprised how many new people we had visit the shop this past Saturday because of the article.

I especially want to thank the many people who have worked hard to make the shop as successful as it has become.  When the decision was made to open the shop with regular hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dorothy Dibble was quick to offer her time each Wednesday.

Wilma Warner hasn’t hesitated to work right alongside Dorothy each Wednesday.  They have both indicated to me how much they enjoy working with each other and it’s obvious they have a lot of fun doing so.

Sharon Nevins, Barb Erickson, Connie McCarthy, and others gladly work the shop when Dorothy, Wilma, and I are not available.

Each and every member of our congregation has been very supportive and helpful when it comes to the thrift shop and should be recognized for their efforts to make it possible for community members to come, browse the shop, and purchase things at a very reasonable price while supporting the church.

The many people who have donated such wonderful items should be acknowledged as well — it’s what keeps the shop going. Thank you to everyone involved in making the shop thrive!
