Lynnwood principal Rizzo to take one-month health leave

GUILDERLAND — Alicia Rizzo, principal of Lynnwood Elementary School, will be absent for a month for a medical procedure, from Sept. 22 through Oct. 24, she wrote in a Sept. 15 letter to parents.

Rizzo wrote that, although the procedure is “preventative in nature,” it is “serious” and her doctors “have advised that it needs to be attended to right away.”

During her absence, Lynnwood will be staffed two other district administrators, who will be on-site every day: Marcia Ranieri, district supervisor of foreign language and English as a Second Language, and Suzanne Lamendola, district coordinator for programs.

School district Superintendent Marie Wiles said, “We have a plan to cover the building, and all will be well.”
