To the Editor:

As the Election Day nears, I want to urge the voters of Guilderland to:

—  Number one: Vote for whomever your favorite candidates are; and

— Number two: Think about what is best for Guilderland.

Without a doubt, Guilderland has enjoyed amenities and good schools without any significant tax increases for several years. 

I strongly believe we could do even better with a twofold approach.  One, with economic development to fill existing space and areas with a variety of businesses, creating taxpayers and sales tax revenue and also improving the look of the Western Avenue corridor.

The second way is to promote Guilderland to the region, also filling existing homes with families who pay taxes and use local businesses.  The community we have built depends on both. Smart growth.

To do this takes new leadership at Town Hall, with fresh, innovative ideas and an open mind.  Leadership that wants to collaborate with our schools, library, and other entities, leaders that care more about the town than party politics, and leaders that care what is best for Guilderland.

As you can see, I am not endorsing anyone here; that would be too easy for readers to discount what is being said.  What I am saying is: Look at the candidates, really look, and then go vote.
