Lexus driver cut off school bus, tried to pry door open

GUILDERLAND — A “road rage incident” involving a woman’s attempted forced entry to a school bus ended in her arrest on Monday morning, police say.

At approximately 7:35 a.m. on Jan. 12, Beth Aviza, of Ryan Place, was driving a white 2014 Lexus on her street, “recklessly” passed a moving and occupied Mohonasen school bus, and then intentionally cut the bus off by coming to a stop in front of it, according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.

The school bus was forced to stop suddenly, police said.

Aviza then got out of her car and attempted to enter the bus by prying the air-door open, causing damage to the door, said the release.

None of the occupants of the bus were injured.

Aviza was arrested for second-degree reckless endangerment,  four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and leaving a motor vehicle unattended, an infraction.

She was released on an appearance ticket and will return to Guilderland Town Court on Feb. 5.
