Photos: Stewart's cuts trees for Altamont expansion
Workers on Tuesday took down trees at 107-109 Helderberg Ave. in Altamont, amid the governors “pause” order, which directed all non-essential employees to work from home and all non-essential businesses to close. Chuck Marshall of Stewart’s Shops told The Enterprise that it was his understanding that construction and horticultural activities were allowed under the current state guidelines. In addition, Marshall said that there had been no suspension of the federal regulation governing the seasonal restriction of tree cutting, which allows trees to be taken down only between Nov. 15 and March 31.
