Five years to the day that Berne-Knox-Westerlo kindergartner Kenneth White was murdered by his cousin in their Knox home, a vigil was held by Kenneth’s Army at the place his body was found, across Thacher Park Road from the trailer where he had he lived. State Senator George Amedore places a wreath on the cross marking the spot while Sheriff Craig Apple looks on.

In the midst of a bitter-cold snow squall, Claire Ansbro-Ingalls of Kenneth's Army tells the 15 or so people that had gathered for a vigil — holding glow sticks instead of candles in the wind — “We cannot forget what happened in this quiet little town.” The group’s new motto, she said, is: Not one more child, Next to Ansbro-Ingalls is Dawn Gibson; both are original members of Kennth's Army. Those at the vigil sang “Silent Night,” and an East Berne fire truck sounded its horn five times.
