Plaza proposed across from Town Hall

Developer Michael Davidson cleared a 1.82-acre site at the corner of Twenty West Drive and Western Avenue this spring, before making any proposal to the town for the site. 

GUILDERLAND — A new multi-use building — with a restaurant, law office, dental office, nail salon, and apartment — is proposed for the southwest corner of Twenty West Drive and Western Avenue, directly across Route 20 from the Guilderland Town Hall. 

The developer is Michael Davidson of Washington State, according to Jacqueline M. Coons, Guilderland’s chief building and zoning inspector. 

Davidson’s own law firm would be one of the tenants in Spruce Plaza. His wife’s dentistry office would be another, Coons said. 

Spruce Plaza would also include a restaurant, a nail salon, and one apartment.

Davidson proposes a 14,740-square-foot-building on the 1.82-acre site across from the town hall, which he cleared earlier this year. 

The building would require a special-use permit in the local-business zoning district. 

Coons said this week that she has not yet posted any information about the project on the town’s website. “He isn’t even officially scheduled for the planning board yet,” she said.

On Nov. 21, the Albany County Planning voted unanimously to defer to local consideration on the special-permit request.
