Lynnwood teacher pleads guilty to endangering the welfare of a child

GUILDERLAND — An incident reported in April led to the arrest Thursday of a Lynnwood Elementary School teacher, Tod J. Mell, for endangering the welfare of a child.

Mell, 47, of Glenville, was charged with the misdemeanor after he “engaged in unlawful physical contact with a female student,” according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.

Mell, who turned himself in to police accompanied by his attorney, was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court before Judge John Bailey where he pleaded guilty, the release said.

Mell is a math specialist, working for the Guilderland schools, and the “contact” occurred between October 2010 and June 2011, the release said.
