Motorcyclist injured in car collision

GUILDERLAND — A motorcyclist collided with a car last Friday when he failed to yield the right-of-way, turning from Mercycare Lane onto Western Avenue, according to Guilderland Police.

Motorcyclist Jacob Shaver, 65, of Troy, suffered serious left leg trauma, according Sergeant Glenn Stevens of the Guilderland Police Department.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22. The car was driven by Corey Brandt, 19, of East Berne. Shaver was taken to Albany Medical Center, said Stevens, and Brandt was not injured.

Brandt’s car had front-send damage, and the accident closed eastbound traffic on Western Avenue for about two hours, Stevens said.

There have been no charges pressed, but that is pending, according to Stevens.
