New fair sign coming: The Altamont Fair is currently refurbishing the old wooden sign on Route 146, according to fair manager Amy Anderson. The current banner is a “temporary fix,” said Anderson. Fair employees did as much of the repainting work as they could themselves, and the rest is now in the hands of a company that is reprinting other elements. The new sign should be ready “any day now,” Anderson said. The fair, which runs from Aug. 16 to 21, will be previewed by The Enterprise next week in a special section.
